Then rub dark brown on it lightly with a rag or sponge.Dry and lightly sand again. I would paint it a light neutral color (my current choice would be gray) and put some vinyl lettering in a bright color on either the drawer fronts or around the door frames. That would add a punch of color and could be switched out.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02496026865956323864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-125740485333761914.post-20168750804959798342010-12-31T13:39:21.493-06:002010-12-31T13:39:21.493-06:00I just found your blog at the "Catch as Catch...I just found your blog at the "Catch as Catch Can" on My Repurposed Life and am now a follower. Not liking that so much.
I am so over Heirloom white for some reason. I'm more of an off white girl (my cabinets are sweetened white)
Whatever you choose, I say do a scrap piece of wood first to get a true test.
I saw on HGTV a few years ago where they did an armoire in white (ish) and then took dark stain and highlighted JUST the edges. I've always wanted to try that. (I think they used something really small like a q-tip)
good luck! can't wait to see it!
gailgail@My Repurposed Lifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06169865526245609703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-125740485333761914.post-49217942739301057252010-12-29T16:00:24.696-06:002010-12-29T16:00:24.696-06:00Forgot to say I've been a follower of yours fo...Forgot to say I've been a follower of yours for a while now :) Barb.barb's creationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13425588296349592091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-125740485333761914.post-72318218657505053282010-12-29T15:59:33.762-06:002010-12-29T15:59:33.762-06:00If it was mine I'd paint it an off white then ...If it was mine I'd paint it an off white then when the paint had dried I'd get out my sander and distress it to give it that old-worn look.I did this with my grandfathers handmade crockery cabinet but added a couple of coats of a soft green before sanding it back and now it resides in my sewing room with my fabric in it....well some of my fabric lol :) Barb.barb's creationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13425588296349592091noreply@blogger.com
