Old Glory and more

This is his regular fashion statement,, He likes boots with shorts,, gotta love it! Can you believe he is 14? And there's our big baby, Sandy, with something in her mouth of course. Think it was a pinecone. Ever since she was a puppy, she's always had something in her mouth,, alot of times it would be a sock. She's almost 9 (or is it 10??) years old.

A small visitor passing through yesterday,,

This is an el cheapo project inspired by this one over at Susie's blog ,, Hers is made of wood and looks great with the stained effect she did. I wanted to make one for the back porch but didn't have a pc of wood big enough so I used an extra thick pc of cardboard that I had, I painted both sides with a coat of white paint so that it wouldn't curl up. I didnt do the stain on mine and it doesnt have the right amount of stars but for just a few cents its a bit of back porch decoration that'll last for a little while and just in time for 4th of July.

Birthday cake for a sweet little 3 yr old named Mae that wanted a camper cake. First time doing a 3d object, and Okay, it does look more like a milk truck or an ambulance than a camper, but she loved it anyway.

Finally found an old window frame. I've seen them around lots of other blogs done up in all different kinds of ways. So I had been looking for one. I had found some here and there but didnt want to spend $15 or $20 that they were being sold for,, Well i waited and finally found one at a yard sale for $2,, two dollars,, Yay!! The people selling it left two pictures in it. I havent figured out exactly what I'm gonna do with it yet.

I'm a Kept woman

I got this in an email and thought i'd share it with everyone. This is so true for me ! !

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me! I'm blessed to be 'kept '

Projects on the cheap!

I used this little sheet of letters I got at HobbyLobby ironed Amberly's initials on the purse (a garage sale find) and Melanie's initials on the bath robe (also a find) . . .

For this little sign I typed and filled the entire page with the saying "Laundry~loads of fun", Used word art to put the Help Wanted on top of that and printed it out,, I tried to stain/age it a little with some tea bags,, and then I used my ModPodge and stuck it to a scrap pc of wood ,, Its hanging in my laundry room.

This last project was inspired by Kara at Creations by Kara , She made the cutest letter project using a scrap pc of wood and making her own patterned paper. She has a blog that is definitely worth checking out,, so go say "hi".

Burlap anyone??

Have you done anything with burlap lately or in the past? Rhoda at SouthernHospitality is having a burlap party. So jump on over there and share what you've done,, We all like to be inspired by others. This is a frame that i found at a yard sale for just a few cents,, painted it red, wrapped some burlap around the pc of cardboard popped this saying that I printed from computer on top of the burlap and put it back in the frame. Not bad for an almost free decoration. You can also see the picture holder I made for Melanie using burlap on this post.

Making Magnets

Recently I was priviliged to be able to help Rachelle over at She's Crafty with her gift bags for the Relay for Life event where she lives. She lost a very sweet friend to cancer and does this in memory of her. You can read about it at She's Crafty. Anyway, she makes the cutest magnet boards and needed(still needs) donations of magnets to go with them,. You can find more information HERE if you would like to make some magnets or some of the other things to send her.


Here are the ones I made, (kinda hard to photograph, they look better in for real ) And just for making these I was featured on her blog here. These are super simple to make but look really pretty on your fridge or magnet/message board.

Trash to Treasure

How about a little trash to treasure, go on over to Kimms place and check out all the other trash that has been made into treasure.. ,, this was made using 4 pieces of scrap wood that I saw in the back of J's truck as I was passing ,, and thought they looked too good to just throw away,, . I laid them out on the floor,, and stapled them together with my little staple gun,, they didnt even fit flush together,, but that didnt matter cause they were getting covered with torn bits of brown paper using watered down tacky glue. Elmers glue would've been cheaper but I didnt really think about it at the time. It really didnt take much anyway. After all the board was covered , I stapled a pc of chicken wire across the back(note to self,, wear gloves next time u work with chicken wire) , then a piece of burlap and finally covered them both with a scrap pc of felt. I stapled a string of wire across the back to hang it with. And to finish it off I added some clothes pins that I covered with two different pcs of scrap paper. My daughter is using it to hang pictures on in her bedroom. ( The pictures arent great but hopefully you get the idea)

Garage Sale loot ,,,

Rhoda over at SouthernHospitality hosts a post on Mondays for everyone to share their thrifty treasures found at yard sales.. Here are a few things found at two yard sales last weekend,, I had been wanting a oil/vinegar set to use for dish soap and this one was only $1 for the two bottles and the metal holder thing. The lamp was the best deal of the day though,, it didnt have a shade but it is wrought-iron and in good shape,, only 50 cents. Only spent $8 total. There were a few other things that is not in pictures. The "Bobs" jar is being used to hold washing powder.

3 shirts for Katelynn, shorts for lil rob, boots for Rod, 1 childrens book, book - Point of Grace, a camo liquid solutions stainless steel coffee mug, an 11x14 old frame (25 cents), purse, 3 dresses to use for material for other projects, a metal cross, a size 6X camo tshirt-making a bed pillow or curtain out of, pair of shoes, sunflower swag and a jar of buttons. Pretty good for $8.

Honey-Do this Honey-Do that..

This was a cake for Marty & Chelsea for a Honey-Do shower. They are getting married May 23rd. Bottom tier(11x15) is yellow cake and the top( 8in ) is white cake. All with buttercream icing.

In the army now,,

Cupcake cake for Jakub . . . 7th birthday. Chocolate cupcakes and chocolate buttercream icing. Camouflage (?) border.

I love you mama !

We have a Morrison family reunion coming up in June. My mother was a Morrison. She gave me a copy of this little story that was attached to the Family Reunion invitation. I just thought that it was really neat. I'd love to know how and be able to do a complete family tree just to know the history of my family.

Kara's Spicy 16 Mardi Gras

This one was for my best friend's (since 8th grade) 16 yr old. She wanted a mardi gras type cake with zebra print in the middle,, She had a cute feather mask for a topper.. Hopefully I can get a picture of it with the topper and update my post later.

Baby Shower Cake

This was for my sister-in-law's niece that is having a baby in July,,, Tried to make it match the invitation,, Not exactly like i had it pictured in my mind. But I think they liked it. Yellow cake with buttercream icing.
